Will this problems caused the car stranded on the road side?

Update. ..the previous owner did top overhaul job 5 months ago. So i can safely say the top parts is in good shape.

How about the bottom parts...like piston rings, main bearings. ..hmmm what else at the bottom to give attention? Am i right to carry out compression test ...

Its 240,000km mileage . For 18 year old car, i think the mileage is reasonable
