Hi fellow guys
I just got myself 1998 V70T5, auto. B5234T3
Its 240,000km mileage . For 18 year old car, i think the mileage is reasonable
Not planning to do high performance mods yet. What should i do in the beginning?
At this mileage, mostly B5234T3 still intact and strong? Or i need to do top overhaul?
Just planning to up a bit power to enhanced overtaking process. Maybe 280bhp?
Just got V70 T5

Very likely the valve stem seals are leaking oil, but if they aren't then for those modest power goals it is probably fine to leave the top end alone.

Well, you got what in my humble opinion is the best spec P80 with the exception of the auto trans if you want to do a lot of mods to the engine the guys who do that prefer the manual trans (personally I prefer the auto living in a city). The auto is good up to around 320bhp according to Aisin Warner.
+1 on the stage zero. Check all the seals for leaks, axle, cam, crank. Also check the PCV system for pressure build up and replace/clean if required.
Flush all the fluid. Look at the Stage 0 info on the website for details. Good luck!
Neil.

Thanks guys. I appreciate
Update. ..the previous owner did top overhaul job 5 months ago. So i can safely say the top parts is in good shape.
How about the bottom parts...like piston rings, main bearings. ..hmmm what else at the bottom to give attention? Am i right to carry out compression test and leak down test? Will these tests tell the condition of bottom cylinder parts?
What worrying me are
1. Auto transmission. ..still using the very 1st transmission. So far no erratic shift or slips
2. Radiator. .also on original one. But got a bit corrosion at the plastic tank areas.
What is the best way to clean the corrosion in coolant passage in the engine ? Any chemical additive to suggest?
As ambient temperature is high...between 38 to 40 celcius, i plan to install external engine oil cooler and atf cooler. Plan to use Setrab/Mishimoto / Mocal stacked plate coolers. Is it best to totally bypass radiator, or run in line with the radiator cooler?
For P80 V70, where is best location to put the two coolers?
1. At upper grill opening? Must relocate the horns. But this will block air to aircond condenser/intercooler /radiator
2. At lower grill opening? This path will reduce intercooler efficiency since cold charged air is moving down ward...if not mistaken
3. At both sides little grill opening next to fog lights . I don't know if 19 rows stacked plate coolers will fits at this location.
Thanks in advance

1. Auto trans can last 500,000+ miles.
2. Change that ASAP.
- There should be NO corrosion in the coolant syytem.
- Already has an engine oil cooler (a part of the . Besides that, using full synthetic, you shouldn't need another one.
- Trans cooler would be a plus.
1. Why would a cooler block air going to the other coolers?
