Re: SIPS air bags and buckles not connecting to module
Thanks Neil and Empty Nester. I will check under the seat again to determine the system on the C70 but I don't recall seeing a red sensor. I checked with the NHTSA and they have no recalls listed for this year and model (probably because it is past 15 years) but I found a few recalls that have been ...

SIPS air bags and buckles not connecting to module
This is for my son's 2003 C70. We have had the car for about 7 years and the SRS light has always been on. The person that I bought the car from mentioned it came on after the battery was drained and went dead. Since my son is now out of state I decided to pill the codes to see what the issue might ...

Re: VVT timing question
Many thanks Lee for the reply. I thought that everything is ok but wanted to confirm with someone who has more experience than me and do so before reinstalling the rest of the parts. I will check where the bolt is on the hub. If it simply throws a code I am fine with that, I just didn't want to dama...

VVT timing question
A real quick question regarding the timing of the VVT for a 2.4l LT motor with the VVT on the exhaust cam. This is a follow up to my original post "03 C-70 How much damage is too much - valves hit pistons". After head replacement I was needing to reinstall the intake cam gear and VVT gear ...

Re: 03 C70 timing setting after head rebuild
Edit from my original post: When I referred to setting the crank to TDC I should have stated "turn the crank so that the timing mark on the crank lines up with the mark on the block as I understand that this is not necessarily TDC. In this case there should be clearance on all 5 cylinders - Cor...

Re: 03 C-70, How much damage is too much - valves hit piston
Yes, even more sad as the shop that did the TB change for the previous owner specializes in European cars. Only thing that I can think of is that the previous owner told them to do it as cheap as possible although he owned the car for three years and 18k miles. The water pump had approximately 24k m...

Re: 03 C70 timing setting after head rebuild
Thanks much for doing this. You were basically reading my mind as the reason for asking the question. Since the timing would all be off between the crank and the current valve placement (especially since it was rebuilt) in the head I did not want to assume anything and could see the chance for immed...

03 C70 timing setting after head rebuild
I previous posted a thread asking for advice on the amount of damage that would be acceptable after the valves hit the top of the pistons for my son's 03 C70 after the water pump froze. I appreciate all the input and I am now at the point of getting the head back on. I have searched through the thre...

Re: 03 C-70, How much damage is too much - valves hit piston
Just a follow up to my original post. The culprit was a seized water pump that caused the belt to slip. I figured that when the previous owner had the TB changed that he did not do the pump. I was wrong. After removing the pump I noticed that it was not a Volvo but some other sort of pump with no ma...

Re: 03 C-70, How much damage is too much - valves hit piston
Thanks all for the info. I am taking the head over to the shop today after recommendation from IPD and another Volvo specialist. I am a bit lucky as IPD is only 20 minutes from me. Spoke with the shop manager and he stated that they have rebuilt heads on Volvos when the belt went at highway speeds. ...
