I'm going to change the fluid. What is this transmission favorite fluid?

My '96 Volvo turbo Wagen with 64,000 miles has hard shifting. I'll change the fluid, it has never been done and is brown and burnt smelling. Is this AW50-42LE one of the problematic Volvo transmissions?

I'm getting my feet wet studying this post my dipstick is smoking and have bad fumes. At the begining it states if you have a turbo you may want to skip to step 7. Should that be step 11? Thanks!
