My '96 Volvo turbo Wagen with 64,000 miles has hard shifting. I'll change the fluid, it has never been done and is brown and burnt smelling. Is this AW50-42LE one of the problematic Volvo transmissions? :roll:

I'm going to change the fluid. What is this transmission favorite fluid?

I think you have the wrong forum, but Valvoline MaxLife is what I would use. Cheap and easy to find. Wal-Mart carries it.

The AW50-42LE is a very good transmission.
