Re: Secondary air trouble shooting

I have used an oil drain plug for that empty exhaust bung, but I don't recall the thread pitch. Agreed, pretty liberating to get rid of the SAS equipment.

On my NAs I have used Posi-Tap connectors on the harness, no clipping of wires.

For turbo cars though, I just flash an ECU with no SAS (or ...

Not
Cel is not coming on.

Had just figured check engine light, thank you. But ...

Re: Secondary air trouble shooting

You mean the readiness monitors aren't set? There's a thread on getting these to set, as some require you to drive a certain way. Do you have a CEL or pending codes?

No pending codes, not sure what cel is. And yes monitor readiness is my problem. Having read a thread about driving a certain way ...

Re: Secondary air trouble shooting

IMHO, It's easier to solder the diode into the module rather than under the harness. Also, it's easier to screw up on the harness and is very much not a fun job to replace it.

So I did the delete, put over 500 miles on it, stopped by the smog station, but still no memory in ecu. Is there more ...

Re: Secondary air trouble shooting

Thanks for mentioning cooking the diode. It was hot. I think I'll put some more effort into finding my small iron and replace it.

Re: Secondary air trouble shooting

Looking at several Sas deletes and wanting to be sure I'm on the right one for my car. 98 v70 base model. That would be diode between a32 and a37. Another thing was they seemed to always think I know more than I do. There are two modules, I'm right to be working on the one on the cars left, right?

Re: Secondary air trouble shooting

Ok then, I just ordered diodes on Amazon. This car has many systems not checking in on the readiness inspection prior to the smog inspection. Do you think the sas delete will get that ball rolling? The tech felt the shot of air, into the exhaust, hitting an o2 sensor was what it takes. I'm hoping ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky!!)

Stuck circuit breakers in slots 38 39 and 40, as they were missing. I couldn't find out what they were for, in my cheap repair manual or on google. Just bought this 98 v70. Hopefully can keep it if I can get it to pass smog. Circuit breakers didn't fix my secondary air problem, but now I know why ...
