I have used an oil drain plug for that empty exhaust bung, but I don't recall the thread pitch. Agreed, pretty liberating to get rid of the SAS equipment.
On my NAs I have used Posi-Tap connectors on the harness, no clipping of wires.
For turbo cars though, I just flash an ECU with no SAS (or pull one from a junkyard). With flashing you can also set the monitors readiness count to zero.

Hmm, I should get my ECU flashed for no SAS. The only traces of SAS left are in the ECU, the VIN, and the airbox (wish I could find a no SAS turbo airbox).erikv11 wrote: ↑13 Sep 2018, 23:48 I have used an oil drain plug for that empty exhaust bung, but I don't recall the thread pitch. Thanks for mentioning cooking the diode. It was hot. I think I'll put some more effort into finding my small iron and replace it.

So I did the delete, put over 500 miles on it, stopped by the smog station, but still no memory in ecu. Is there more information on trouble shooting this problem?WhatAmIDoing wrote: ↑13 Sep 2018, 15:39 IMHO, It's easier to solder the diode into the module rather than under the harness. Also, it's easier to screw up on the harness and is very much not a fun job to replace it.

You mean the readiness monitors aren't set? There's a thread on getting these to set, as some require you to drive a certain way. Do you have a CEL or pending codes?

No pending codes, not sure what cel is. And yes monitor readiness is my problem. Having read a thread about driving a certain way, I also seen with that miles also do the job. So in my area miles are much easier to find than places to drive at those speeds. So I opted for miles, hoping the info was good.WhatAmIDoing wrote: ↑30 Sep 2018, 00:21 You mean the readiness monitors aren't set? CEL = check engine light. From what I've heard the monitors are a pain to get all of them to set. I think I recall one user having to drive like 2k miles before they all readied. Glad I don't have to go through emissions or vehicle inspection.

Had just figured check engine light, thank you. But, no it is coming on. Well I guess I'll just run it for another couple months and see what gives. Thankfully the registration tag is good well into next year. Smog dealings suck on things like this. If the registration wasn't good I would have already had to scrap this project. Also here Volvo's are few and far between, so it's not like I can pull parts at the junk yard. Thanks for your help.WhatAmIDoing wrote: ↑30 Sep 2018, 00:32 CEL = check engine light. I don't know about flashing. Does it take special equipment? And if my monitors are not ready is that different than being at zero?erikv11 wrote: ↑13 Sep 2018, 23:48 I have used an oil drain plug for that empty exhaust bung, but I don't recall the thread pitch.
