fuel pressure relief for changing filter

Post by black s70 »

I am planning to change the fuel filter on my s70, and the tech book I have outlines a procedure to evacuate the entire fuel system using some special gadgets. I wanted to see if there is another way to do this, like disconnecting the fuel pump and running the engine until it dies. SOmething that will not result in damage to the fuel system.

Thanks in advance.

There's a valve near or on the fuel injector rail that will release the pressure. It's mechanically identical to a bicycle tire valve... and works the same way. I believe mine has a blue cap.

Put a large rag over it to collect the fuel when it come out. After doing this I had no problem getting the filter off... again, have several rags ready to soak up the fuel from the lines around the filter. And wear eye protection.

It's not as hard as all this makes it out to be :D
