96 Volvo 850 Speaker Replacement

Post by Managerman08 »

I was interested in a new set of speakers for my '96 850 sedan. I get no sound out of my rear speakers (rear door and behind the rear headrests) and the front passenger speakers (door and dash) rattle like hell on any type of bass line with the volume turned up. I didn't know if anyone had a refrence to where i could find the sizes of the speakers so i know what to get to replace them with. Also any recomendations as to what would be good for aftermarket speakers would be great (college kid on a budget). Thanks,
-Zach

The front speakers are 5.25" round and the rear hat shelf speakers are 6 x 9. After listening to to a BUNCH of different speakers at different car audio places, I decided that the Polk Audio ones have the best overall sound. Good price on them too. I'm probably going to get some as soon as the fundage cooperates.

..but aren't the rear speakers 8ohm? If so, did you disconnect the door speakers or did you just run the deck and door speakers for a 3ohm load on the radio and if so, is there any problems?
