I have a 1998 S70 GLT. Several months ago, i noticed something leaking from the car. At about the same time, i noticed that when i tried to rapidly accelerate, the rpm's would get very high without shifting. The acceleration was minimal. When I took it to the Volvo dealer, they tightened some valves. To be fair, I didn't mention the acceleration issues as I did not yet realize it was an issue. When I was recently trying to trade the car in, the guy who was driving it indicated I may need to replace the transmission, based on the inability of the car to shift when floored.
Is it possible that what has leaked from the car is transmission fluid, and that because of this leak i am having the acceleration problems I am having?

Have you checked the level of trans fluid? High or low level could do strange things.
Follow instructions in owners manual: (don't quote me here) get engine warm, leave car idling, on level surface, then check.
