Hello, all. Newbie here.

I just bought a 1994 850 Turbo Sedan today. Only 75,000 miles for a 11 year old car. Not bad. It has some cosmetic damage that I can take care of pretty easily, I think. The car's main problem right now is the power seats. I think both the driver and passenger side seat motors are partially busted.

Any idea how much replacing these motors costs? I'm assuming it's pretty spendy.

Anyway - I love the car. It's my first Volvo. I love the power. I love the look. I just need more time with it.

Do the seats have no power at all? Motor failure on the seats isn't a real common problem. It is more often attributed to wiring issues.

Congrats on the buy. You won't regret it.

Yes, the seats have power, but the driver seat doesn't go back far enough, and I'm certain that it should. The passenger seat back support doesn't come above 50 degrees or so.

I do love the car, however. It really wants to move.

If it is the back tilt of the seat that is not working that is a common problem with the 850. Here is an article that shows how to replace the cable, which you can buy at the dealer for $40 and the proceedure is easy!

Just in case you need it replaced, Volvo charged me about 200 dollars for one seat. Hope it doesn't need to be replaced!

No problem, I replaced the cable on my '94 850 it took about 30 minutes, and only minimal cussing as you do have to somewhat stand on your head for the procedure!

all this time... we were just messing with the same cable over and over again, it would stay for about 2 weeks, then quit.
