clock resets, computer forgets

Post by shinyV70 »

Hello! First post. Welcome to me.

I own a 1999 V70. Twice in the past month my car's clock has reset. It just forgot what time it was. At the same time, the average MPG, average MPG, and the miles readings all reset. The master odometer and trip odometer don't reset.

What could be doing this? Maybe a low battery?

thanks

Have you ever had the dash (idiot)lights come on when the engine is running? If so the electrical side of the ignition switch is going bad or the battery terminals are not clean

I always leave the dash glowing lights on. Havn't noticed them coming off or anything.

On 2nd thought lately the ignition takes a bit longer and more revs to start up. I bet there's something up with the ignition. Poop.

Don't have the answer but on a related note, my clock and temp. are on military/international settings. Do I have to disconnect the battery terminal and reconnect to get english setting back or is there another way?

Thought that is what I had read in the Owners Manual but that is , uh, hard to check now since it's in my glovebox that has the bad latch (won't open) defect...
