98 s70 2.4 N/A (non-turbo)
I am confused as to where my fuel pressure regulator is. I have a small silver cylinder under my fuel rail, but some have said this is the fuel pressure dampener. I only have one fuel line connected to the rail. Near the rear wheel there is a device spliced into the fuel line with a vacuum line connected to it. There is a second fuel line connected to it that runs back to the fuel tank. Forward of this there is only one fuel line to the rail. The vacuum hose connected to it runs to the front and connects to the charcoal canister. Some say this isn't the FPR, but a part of evaporation emissions or something. I think it's the fuel pressure regulator. I can detect no vacuum on this line with the car at idle, so i want to do some repairing, but can't find the part, all the FPR's look like something else. Did volvo change the fuel system mid-year or something? I've seen other 98 s70's with 2 fuel lines at the rail.
s70 Fuel pressure regulator?

Your fuel pressure regulator is near the fuel filter under the car, near the passenger side rear wheel. The part that has the fuel lines coming from the tank and going forward to the engine is separate from the fuel pressure regulator. The vacuum line connects to the fuel pressure regulator. I had one go bad on my son's 1997 850 wagon. My wife's 1998 S70 non turbo and my 1996 850 sedan have the same setup.

Thank you. Many experts have given me incorrect information about this causing me to doubt myself. Apparently this year and model is misunderstood.
