850 T5 that overrevs

Post by Martun Hunter »

I have a 1995 T5 that I have just bought that I almost totally happy with. I have one problem though. When I change gears and take my foot of the accelerator, the engine actually revs up somewhat before coming down.

What could this be?

Thanks in advance

Martin

Sounds like a sticky throttle cable. Open the hood and look for it at the top of the engine, little to the right as you're looking at it. Pull it and see if it sticks... if it does, I really don't know what to put on it... :? maybe some WD40 or similar. But you get the idea: make sure it works freely.

Thank for the tips. I tried it but unfortunently it didnt help. The cables seem be moving freely and going back to idle position no problem. She just keeps on revving! I am wondering if there isnt something that shouldnt be cleaned. I heard about a contact that can get dirty and thus when you back off the accelerator this switch should be broken.
Does this make sense?

throttle position sensor, u can see something with wires on the throttle body.

Check fuel regulator rubber elbows to throttle body. Repair this and the fuel may clear up your throttle position sensor in a few days. If impatient can try cleaning the TPS.

Would anyone have a picture of the throttle body and the associated parts that I should try to clean to fix the overreving problem.

Thanks
