Well I saw where the speed sensor is - I've got an 850 where the Odometer works fine but speedo is intermittent - my guess is the speed sensor is fine, but the cluster is bad? Anyone taken the cluster out?
Source for used inst clusters or fixing my electronic speedo problem?

For the cluster try ebay. I purchased a few and learned there is a difference between turbo and N/A clusters as well as those with the electronic trip mileage, temp sensors and those with just the led clock. Pulling the dash as Matt explained can leave to squeaks and rattles later on but only if you torque the dash to get the cluster out rather than removing the whole dash. Hey I forgot to replace a bulb after the first removal and the second time it was a breeze.
