So a while back my dear 855 was broken into. They drilled out the door locks and the ignition tumbler. The door locks i got fixed, and its just the ignition tumbler left. I have gotten the old one removed, and have a new one from Volvo.
They look absolutely identical and have the exact same dimensions (i measured). The only difference is the old one i can wiggle back into place. The new one gets stuck about 1/4" out from where it is supposed to be.
It feels like i have tried everything, but it just wont go all the way in. Does anyone have any tips what it could be?
The key is in the I position, and so was the old tumbler when i pulled it out. So the ignition switch part it goes into has the same rotation.
New ignition tumbler wont go in 1996 850

Did you get a new key when you got the new tumbler? It could be if you have a worn key it is not depressing the tumbler sliders sufficiently to allow it to fit all the way. Try looking at the tumbler sliders with the key in both tumblers and see if they retract the same.
