I've considered it, but I normally run 5w40, and wasn't sure a 5w30 would be a good idea.

I also run 5W40, Rotella T6 being the one most used then Castrol Edge Titanium. Have been experimenting with 15W40 Rotella T6 in 3 cars for winter and summer and so far all okay.

The 5W30 should be fine for one or two changes unless you really exercise and glow the turbo, it shouldn't break down between a 3K to 5K change interval. I would change the filter out at 1K or 1.5K miles in case you have lots of deposits but not carbon build up / coking which requires several changes.

I do experiment with other oils when there is a good sale and so far all have been okay. The goal is to stay with a 6 month or 5K max interval. Don't care for Liqui-Moly in any weight and have used mostly 5W40. Though not a bad oil just not worth the cost and seen to poop out quicker than the Rotella T6 and Castrol Titanium.
