99' S70, 5-speed, Immobilizer Problem. End of the road for Matilda?

We have it another hour today

Reproduced symptoms. Scanner reads VIN from CDM, and parameters from dash show up and change as toggled

Engine temperature reported as -40C bottom of range. Noted from wiring that the ECT reports directly from the ECM so that also points to a non responsive ECM (not necessarily non-working)

We swapped in Jane Bonds ECM, for a 2000 NA m56….same symptoms

We checked the CANBUS Aline’s for, CDM to ECM for continuity , all good

Then I noticed the main relay was not pulling in. 850 LPT comfirmed this.
We jumped it with a paper clip, no joy.

Then the relay started pulling in again?????????

Could that be the intermittent ???

Sorry about that, strangely when I tried first time it went straight in. Should have copied the files. I'll look some more and try to extract from Vida. I seem to recall I had issues accessing wiring diagrams last time I tried.

Yup. that is not what it should be doing. The possible issues I am sure you have considered are:

1) ECU - I believe you have swapped in an alternate to see what happens. I assume you have the same result with that.
2) ETM - If you have not swapped that out, that is where I would be looking to or a wiring issue to the ETM from the ECU.

Swapped in both Shaggs and Jane’s ECU and no communication to either. We are going to try Mathilda’s ECU in a good running car.
