ABS obd1 reader on Volvo 850 1994. Constant light, no code.

Post by Evolvo850B »

Volvo 850 1994
Hi! I have a problem with the obd1 reader on my Volvo 850 1994.
I first tried and got a bunch of codes on the ABS. Then I would clear them and then it stopped giving me anything at all.
I also tried replacing the ABS module. but still the same problem.

Would like to see the fault codes on the ABS. But as soon as I put the plug in A3 the light comes on a little.
When I press the button the light comes on but nothing happens, no 1-1-1 or anything.
When I test other sockets for example A2 I get 1-1-1
But the socket for ABS gives nothing but lights up when I press it, and as soon as the pin is in the socket it lights up a little… any tips? :(

Yes, checked all fuses. Removed the battery over the night. Have seen people having this problem before but no solution..

I thought I would do everyone who has this problem in the future a favor and write the solution I never found online :)

What worked for me was that when the car was on and the cable was in the A3, I pulled out the fuse for the abs module. Then I put it back in. The module clicked and the constant light went out. Then I could see the codes and clear them.

Guessing this was a 3rd party scan tool - not a real volvo scan tool?

If so, I've encountered this before with my Maxidas *Autel* scan tool before.

In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.

This was the built in OBD1 on 850s before 1995. No obd2
