Volvo s70 PCV Emergency fix ?

Post by LEEGary »

My PCV system eventually gets clogged, but where I live, PCV kits are unavailable. I could order them from China, but I'm not sure about the quality.
I'm still a student, and spending a lot of money is a bit difficult for me. But I do want to keep my S70 in good condition; it's the only vehicle I can currently use.
I found a blow-by valve for cars (maybe Volkswagen) at a nearby repair shop. It was in good condition and prevented blow-by backflow. I used several O-rings to plug it into the dipstick hole like an oil dipstick, and connected a tube to a mysterious little hole after the MAF (this hole was taped shut when I bought the car).
The reason I'm doing this instead of venting the blow-by gas into the atmosphere is that I want to maintain the vacuum pressure in the engine system and allow the blow-by gas to be burned to prevent problems like an overly lean system. I'm not sure if this is the right approach, but I'll add a catch can to strip oil vapors. Will this be more effective than directly venting the blow-by gas, or will it make the system worse? I will only properly repair and maintain the PCV system once I can buy reliable parts.
Hope someone could give me some suggestions, Thanks!

Vent it to atmosphere and put a vacuum cap on the air intake hose. It won't cause a lean condition.
Try to learn life's bad lessons vicariously through others.

I’ll be in Korea in a couple of weeks. Give me the part numbers you need and I’ll see if I can drag them in.

Thank you, I've already managed to get most of the parts, so I probably won't need to trouble you anymore! Thanks again!
