Update

I installed the new pair of horns. they worked great for a while.

Then the horn and everything else went haywire as usual. I unplugged ABS because i suspected it was causing an issue. Havent had any of those issues since then, but there is still a faulty ground somewhere causing random honks. Abscate said its on the steering column. Anyone know where that ground is?

Alright. I figured out the horn was not causing the issue. Its likely the abs module. I bought another abs module. I swapped it out. Turned the key to accessory. Nothing weird. Started the car. Nothing weird. Successfully operated the horn, radio, headlights, turn signals, sunroof, heated mirrors, and hazards several times. They all work. Will test next 5 days. Will update once that test is done.

Again, I was wrong. It was not the abs module. Still buggin along. Tomorrow I will go buy a new volt meter so I can test the fuse box.

I tested all aspects of the ABS. Not the issue. Tested the headlights. Not the issue. I do however remember the seller telling me the speed sensor on the back of the transmission was causing cluster issues. Maybe Ill try that. I do have the new part. The area is difficult to get to though.

Major update: Review all the videos I posted. They should all be captioned underneath.

While I did replace the speed sensor on back of trans and that didn't fix the issue, I did find weirder and crazier things happening. Could that left power wire on the iac (based on voltage pics) be causing a problem?

All of ^this^ hulabaloo and trickery over 2 J relays under the hood. I still can't wrap my head around how relieved I am. It was ending up a failure but then ended a success.

How did you track this issue down? It would be helpful to understand your diagnostic process as it is a weird issue.

That's why I was so thankful you recommended paying Robert $10 to solve the issue. I told him everything going wrong with the electrical. He was the one that said it sounded like either 1 or 2 (not all 3) J relays might have gone bad. I changed them. Voila. Everything's peachy now. I did not diagnose anything since my last post on this thread.

Ok, I thought those 2 things were connected, but wither way, glad you got a simple resolution in the end. I'd say $10 worth while spending when you can get that diagnosis so quickly!!

Glad you got your car sorted. Does that mean you no longer need a car like Matthews 850R?

I was just talking to my brother as he called. His 97 850 refused to start after a gas fill. Sounds like no fuel. AAA called now. I'll post a couple of fuel relays down. I was sure I sent a spare with the car originally, but probably lost now 9 years later.....

My mom plans to buy it as a starter car for my 16yo sister. Which I'm fine with. I'll be the mechanic. I do still plan to buy his 850R. I might also buy that Highlander I like so much. However, the test drive comes first and that's what I'm going to be doing today.
