Just cover the steering rack's end with ziploc bag and rubber band while you wait for new parts to arrive.
Dirt is the #1 enemy of the steering rack.
PS: During install, just remember to use some rubber material as cushion between pipewrench and the rack's end to prevent further chipping it.
I notice that your trans is also exposed. Get a piece of plastic/masking tape and tape the ends of the auto trans (I understand that you removed the axles for rebuild) to prevent dirt/debris/bugs from getting in. Even the slightest amount of dirt is the worst enemy of the auto trans.
Will I use loctite or anti-seize when putting inner on rack, and outer on inner?
