Volvo Repair Database onboard computer flashes---- DISC---- S70 T5

Post by kgflint t5 »

hi everyone, i was wondering if anyone knew what this reading means. every so often my on board computer flashes "DISC" and im pretty sure it means disconnected or something along those lines. im pretty sure it has nothing to do with the radio/cd- disc player.

if it is a disconnect, is there a way to isolate that? or is it a specific reading.

thanks in advance!

It means disconnect - it confused me when I first got my car too. The trip computer 'info' switch makes mine do this all the time, moreso on certain settings. I think it's just worn contacts in between settings that makes it think it's on like 2 settings at the same time, so it gets confused and just says DISC. Fiddle with the switch on yours, and it will probably stop doing it - you probably just need to order a new switch and pop it in.

As stated above, it's simply the switch for the trip computer/temperature. Mine shows DISC every once in a while, all I have to do is literally flick it with my fingernail and it's fine.

Hi. New to forum (and for some reason can't log in to VPCUK?).

The 'disc' thing is nothing to worry about. Mine does it occasionally and I just put it down to the switch momentarily touch the contacts of 2 positions. Mine's never faultered.

You can pop the module out using a butter knife and clean the contacts with a Q-tip and some alcohol.

I just rotated mine through all the settings a few times.

I was having to do that constantly. It's always worst at the instantaneous MPG setting on mine.

I haven't got any problems like that.

Mine would flicker back and forth on the MPG setting. Taking it apart and cleaning the contacts had no effect, so I just replaced the switch with one a guy gave me that was parting out his car.

(If I leave mine on temp, it just shows ridiculous numbers). I should just replace the sensor, but its kinda fun seeing the numbers it'll show!
