volvo v70 1998 2.5 tdi cold start problems 2

guys here's the problem
when the car is cold i start it fires and dies immediately,
if i keep cranking i get a lot of white smoke,
if i turn off the engine wait about 20 seconds and then start again i normally get it to start
then after about 20 seconds i get white smoke and the car stalls.
if i turn it off and start again and drive it after about 5 mins
it warms up and runs fine until i leave it for an hour or so ...
