850 turbo wagon no start

Post by Broken850 »

I'm trouble shooting a no start condition. Steps so far.... Fuel pump is confirmed running, no spark at coil hot wire to ground, cam position sensor showing voltage out (5-0 and back). I'm currently looking for the crank position sensor. I found the vehicle speed sensor (same as crank sensor?) and it reads .995 ohms across it. Is the crank position sensor on the top side of the belhousing? Could it be simply the coil? Help please!!

Thankyou for the info on the cam sensor. I back probed the middle wire, turned engine over, and got a constant 0 to 5 volts out. Can the cam sensor still be bad? I'm also showing a engine speed output on my live data program on the laptop. I've heard the crank position sensor can also kill spark to the engine. Any thoughts on the crank sensor? Where the hang is it??

Then click the diagram on the left, it is part #11 on the page.

Sorry, I don't know anything about the electrical diagnostics.

Anything new on this topic? My 850 Turbo has the same exact condition. No start, just cranks.

Do you smell a lot of gas? I mean, really smell a lot? I did.

I had this issue, and the dealer fixed it by replacing what they described as a "freeze plug" in the intake manifold. I don't think they ever told me what it was actually called.

Apparently it can just pop out. I never saw it myself, but next time I get crank but no start, you can bet I'll be examining the intake manifold with a magnifying glass in order to save myself a $700 repair bill.

Looks like it's at the end of the intake manifold where the vacuum hose connects. Freeze plugs are there as a precaution to prevent parts of the car from expanding and cracking the engine block/manifold (in your case).
