['96 850 GLT Wagon] AUT gets hotter than it ought

Post by s2zeller »

Some may remember how I was too cold in the summer (http://aquariumgardeners.com/com/).

Well, now I'm too hot in the winter.

I have fallen back to using the AUT setting on the climate control and it has been working acceptably until I get about 70 miles into my daily commute (~1 hour and 15 minutes). Then, hot air just starts pouring out of whatever vent is open. The only way to reduce the airflow is to move the fan slider to 0.

There are (currently) no flashing REC/AC lights (tho' they have flashed on occasion, but not recently).

The car has several temp sensors around the cabin. Maybe you can try to figure out how to test them. Also, the air mix vent knob will allow you to mix cool air into the cabin.

I've previously checked the sensors above the door (behind the grab handles), and I'll try and check the others this weekend.

What has me puzzled is why the temp can be holding pretty solid until approximately 75 minutes into my commute (going either way) and then the heat kicks on big time.

In many of the cases, the external temp and cloud cover has remained constant.
