1996 850 - Passenger Side Window stuck down

Post by DougM »

My son put the passenger side window down last night, and now it won't go up. I've tried jiggling the switch several times--nothing! It doesn't sound like anything is happening at all.

Suggestions? Could it be the window switch (center console)? Or is it more likely to be the drive motor in the door.

I just fixed my S70's rear passenger window after 20 plus months of ownership. It would not go up or down. It turns out it was unplugged at the motor and when connected it would go down but not back up. I swapped the back switches to be sure it was not the switch at the door. It did not work on the good window so after taking it apart and cleaning it operated properly in the good window position. I then cleaned the Master Switch again. That's a total of 3 times, purchase, several week ago and final time after I discovered it was unplugged before I discovered it was the main problem as well as the window switch at the door of course.

In order to test the motor unplug it and insert two wires into the plug and cross them and make contact with the Motor connector. Push the Master Switch down as to roll down and if it rolls up the window the motor is good and something is wrong with the Master and/or Window Switch.
