Elizabeth popped some codes aftertaste Tuesday epic winter storm trip

I noticed a slight flutter on rundown , idle fluctuating between 700-900 rpm before settling in at 850 rpm

In providence, the idle went rough, 500-1000 and hunting , stalling about 5% of time

Running at speed fine, good power. 28 mpg at 60 mph

At home , on idle it popped codes

p1238 - Turbo Boost leak or Valve problem

P1171 - Long term fuel trim Lean limit

p0172 - Rich error code

Plugs new, coils and ETM are about 60k old

I'll be looking at the vacuum lines and induction hoses in the warm weather coming up

I might stick my spareMAF on it today

I'll wager you picked up a intake air leak, particularly the charge pipes.
1998 C70, B5234T3, 16T, AW50-42, Bosch Motronic 4.4, Special Edition package.
2003 S40, B4204T3, 14T twin scroll AW55-50/51SN, Siemens EMS 2000.
2004 S60R, B8444S TF80 AWD. Yamaha V8 conversion
2005 XC90 T6 Executive, B6294T, 4T65 AWD, Bosch Motronic 7.0.

Well cold start this morning went up to 1100 rpm, then idled down to 840 smooth as silk
Ambient 32F

Looks like another one for the intermittent symptom study.

The one thing all three have in common is intake air leak. P1238, the leak tends to be after the Turbo.

Any idea if yours has the drain hole drilled into the bottom near the corner?

It does. I'm still puzzled about the clear symptoms of induction leak which self healed.

Inter cooler icing would have killed operation under load, I would think.

I've been using breeze clamps on everything I touch now. I know at one point Albany Mack was recommending utilizing constant torque clamps on all trucks they work on.
