Have a code scanner recommendation?

I need to update this post. I haven't bought a scanner in 15 years. They just work.

Two years ago I purchased Autophix ES610 code scanner. It is good to read and reset codes (including SRS codes) for Volvo 1999 to 2008 on certain models. I bought it specifically to reset SRS. Sort of clunky but it does what it is said to do.

I bought a $25 Bluetooth OBDII scanner many years ago, hooks up to the Torque app. Pretty easy and and you can see more information that just codes. I like it! Won't do anything super fancy, but very cheap and effective.

I use an Actron made by Bosch. Works fine - no issues. But I don't think it reads SRS or trans codes etc. Just the basic stuff.

I recently purchased an Innova 6030P, about $80.
Reads ABS, live data bluetooths to phone with Repair Solutions 2 app. (Free). Downsides short cable, really need 2 people to read live data while driving.

If you're trying to generate conversation, then I apologize for sticking my nose into it.

If you're really looking for the right way to interrogate your Volvo, then you, of all people, already know the answer to that.

You want VIDA and DiCE, of course.

Unless you're talking about 2015+, in which case, my cousin went with Snap-On for the daily stuff.

You'll still want VIDA and DiCE on hand, for when the generic tool won't cut it. You know that, too.

Thanks for the input KCody! Yes, VIDA is king. I’m asking for a lower-level investment (time) with this question. I’m going through the 2000-odd VRD entries and improving them, so when this one came up it was dated. So this thread is about OBD-II retail readers.
