Next on my checklist would be to check the condition of the battery cable at the Jump post. It is located under the Bonnet, under the flap next to the fuse box. Disconnect the cable. Clean it and make sure everything is in good condition.

resurrecting this because I've a similar problem. 2010 XC90 V8.

Car wouldn't start, usually the first start of the day. Get in, everything seems to have power, turn the key, silcence. Voltage drops to 11.5.

At first if I hooked up a jump pack or continued repeatedly turning the key it would start. But now even with a fully charged jump pack any time I turn the key from position I to position II, car voltage drop to 11.5 and no action from the starter whatsoever. The jump pack might say it's still putting out 13V but the car just shows 11.5.

When first this occurred I presumed it was a weak battery. I don't normally fire the parts cannon at a car and hope to fix the problem that way but I figured it was due for a new battery anyhow, so a new battery it got. The problem persists.

I tried swapping the M1 and M3 relays to see if the original M1 relay was causing the problem but, as you've probably guessed by the fact I'm posting this, no joy.

So I'm thinking it's likely an iginition switch issue.
