08 xc90: tail lights and puddle lights stay on

Mrs. Ogatrulle parked the xc90 yesterday and discovered that the parking/tail lights and puddle lights (both sides) remained on after turning off the car and locking/closing the doors. I ended up disconnecting the battery so it wouldn't discharge overnight.

I checked the positions of the headlamp switch and turn signal stalk. It didn't matter of the headlamp switch was in the "0" or the "on" position - tail lights still illuminated. Brake lights work fine - they go on and off according to the brake pedal. I also opened and closed all the doors, including the tailgate.

Any ideas?

I'm going to try to remove and inspect the headlight switch and try to figure out which terminal activates the parking lights. What else might it be?
