How to turn on and wake up Climate Control Module on S80 2005

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

How to turn on and wake up Climate Control Module on S80 2005

Post by PEA »

Hi,

I am trying to add an aftermarket Webasto Thermo Top C unit with parking heater to my car. I have successfully installed the Webasto unit and everything is almost working. The problem is with the Climate Control Module. It seems that the CCM does not remember the last air flow flaps settings that you use on the car. After I shut down the car, it does not want to blow the air to the front window by default. The webasto will succesfully start the cabin blower fan but it will not blow the air to the window. I tried to overcome this issue by waking up the CEM and CCM by using the ACC signal from the ignition switch. Webasto unit will simulate the ACC position signal, and this solves the problem that I had, but it creates 2 new problems :D

1. I can't open or close the car with the key fob if this ACC signal is activated. I can manually open the door and enter the car, but this is not the solution that I am looking for.

2. I can't start the car if this signal is activated. It seems that the starting signal is blocked if the ACC signal does not disappear.

Does anyone have any experience with the CCM? How should I turn on the CCM or change the air flaps positions without messing up anything else? I tried to feed +12V directly to CCM module, but it does not work like that. It seems that it needs some kind of wake up signal as well.

Hi,

I found a solution. The car only closes the air flaps if you press the lock button on your key fob. The solution is to give the acc signal only for a short period of time after the car has already been locked (like it is during the webasto heating cycle). This wakes up the CEM and CCM and opens the air flaps to your last settings. Then you can remove the ACC signal and power off the CEM and CCM. The flaps remain in the correct position until you open and close the car doors with your key fob.

PS! Anyone installing the Webasto heater will have to still turn on the cabin blower motor separately.
