Fuel Guage on 93 940
Hi, the fuel guage on my 93 940 works intermittently. It will work fine for a minute, several minutes to all day. There is no rhyme or reason to it failing... I can be driving along and suddenly the needle jumps up to read the level, and for no reason you can be driving and then watch the needle drop to zero... I have gotten used to using the trip odometer to know when to gas up again, but would like to fix it... fuses ok... Any ideas?

Assuming that you've checked for poor connections at the sender and its wiring it's probably a corrosion/wear problem with the track on the fuel sender (similar to a crackling volume control) the fuel sender is in a plastic tube with the pump with three wires; power,earth/ground,and output volts, the connectors inside the speedo/instrument console are not the nicest piece of kit; if all else fails inspect these (the screws holding the speedo in are hidden under 2 plastic caps by the trip and clock reset knobs)dachs1 wrote:Hi, the fuel guage on my 93 940 works intermittently.
