I have a 1990 240DL 4-door Automatic. After trying for a couple of years to find a MAF that works in my car, I think I've finally narrowed it down to this one. Every time I order one that I have confirmed shows pictures of what it looks like, I don't get the correct part. I'm so tired of throwing money away on these dodgy parts I can't return but for the core charge, that I just need a solid source for the correct part. I confirmed that a genuine Bosch '0 280 212 016' not only has the number stamped on the side, but it has a V-shaped "pickle fork" in the wind tunnel that holds part of the wire sensor. Many aftermarket parts don't show the inside, and those that do, I found they don't ship what they claim. And they ALL claim that their part fits my car. Well, it fits but it doesn't work.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Here's what I've tried so far:
- Bought a 'Genuine Volvo' 8251497 from IPD. It fit, but did not help my problem, and I constantly got a '3-2-2' error because there is no wire in this thing to burn off. It's a little circuit board in the wind tunnel.
- Bought a BSE MN20044S from O'Reilly Auto Parts. It fit, but works worse than the Genuine Volvo. I thought it just needed to 'settle in' and so I turned in the 8251497 for the core charge. Shouldn't have done that. It's got the wire, but the sensor is a little rectangular blade that sticks up in the wind tunnel. The correct number is stamped on the side though, which is weird.
- Called an O'Reilly Auto Parts 50 miles away from my house because they were the only one that had a BSE MN20044N in stock. I asked them to confirm the number and the sensor shape. The number was totally different, and the sensor was different.
- Ordered a Cardone 74-10017 from NAPA. It had the same sensor that's in the one I have, but the number stamped on the side was a Bosch '0 280 213 004'; a MAF for a Corvette?
- I finally ordered a used one from eBay, confirmed pictures matched and part number matched. When it arrived, it was a Bosch '0 280 212 015'. Only one number off, but it was completely wrong.
Where to buy Bosch 0 280 212 016 MAF?

It looks like Bosch 0280212016 was replaced with Bosch 0986280101.

LH2.4 940 740 240 have "016" Maf (3inch is 012) it could be some "odd" ones but this is i general.

Hey!
I have had the same problem with my 1993 Volvo 240 and my mechanic finally put one of his own good working ones in my car and gave me three months to find my own and so far I’ve only found one that I hope works (been waiting out cause the car didn't run for four months before he lent me one).
The only place I know to look is eBay and the junkyards at this point because he’s insisting that it’s a factory original non-remanufactured Bosch MAF. Sometimes I seem to aggravate sellers because they don’t care about the internal components, but I keep telling them that the slingshot shaped the prong has to be present for it to work in my car and the challenge me saying they've never heard of that and they ask me why my car needs that specific part and I just said I don’t know my car can’t tell me, but I just noticed that doesn’t run unless it has that specific internal component. They're about $100 on eBay on average but hard to find so I scour the site daily.
I hope you've found one by now! I never thought finding parts for my car would be this hard especially for a mass airflow sensor, but it’s been two years of failing ones because I was buying remanufactured ones or mass flow sensors with the single rectangular prong that doesn’t work.

Hi there!
A few years later and I am also having this same issue! Ive got a 91 940 T and the Bosch sensor it came with gave out on me when something got into it (it looks like its been taken apart before).
I ordered and installed a Walker brand, has a board no wire so it idles awfully and threw the 3-2-2 code about the wire. I went on a wild goose chase thinking the connector was the issue. To make a long story short I thought I needed a 6 pin connector when my car came with 5. Incorrect.
Yesterday I installed a Duralast Maf Sensor, I cannot remember if its got a wire or not but I performed a reset and idle is a little better but driveability is very slow and boosting is weird so Id say it performs worse than the Walker.
So now Im on the hunt for a bosch 0 0280 212 016 specifically and so far only find sketchy ebay listings. My second option is to try one from the brand Professional Parts Sweden and hope its got the wire mentioned here.
I wish those that are needing one of these Maf sensors the best of luck!
