no start after changing timing belt

Post by OntheDL »

I have a 1985 240dl that timing belt had slipped off due to a worn tensioner. After replacing the belt and tensioner the car would not start, it turns over but does not catch. There is spark at the plugs, smells like there is gas when i open the cylinder, the cam is spinning as well as the belts, there is voltage at the 25 amp fuse, ignition coil. Would the belts still spin if it was a sheared cam dowel pin?
