240 1986 How do I remove the top nut of the struts

Hi-

I want to rebuild the struts and was wondering how I remove the top nut without using the Volvo Tool. The shaft of the strut moves and I am having a bear of a time getting that nut loose!

The easiest way is to remove the strut with the top nut still in place. When you compress the spring you will be able to use a ring spanner to remove the nut whilst holding the shaft with another spanner.

This is a clear guide to replacing the struts. How I wish the internet had been around when I was really tearing cars to pieces!!!
