Solved - Cam cover won't come off

Post by nelaco »

Hi everyone, yesterday I started removing the cam cover but it is stuck at the corner near the rear of the intake cam. All the other corners are coming off without issues. I've try slowly pry on the tab near this corner but already broke. Now I have a string attached to the cam sensor bolt, and to the hood on the other. I am pushing the hood up slowly but so far no luck. Can someone think of any other way of doing this?
Thank you in advance!

Update: Nothing would work until I tried a regular hammer with a short ratchet extension on the tab. I just tapped it lightly several times and started moving up. I had been using a rubber one but did not help.
The dowel pin had some light oxidation and was keeping the cover from sliding up.
