Odd coolant loss

Not entirely odd depending whether you were on or off highway.
I once left home with my P2 S60, with the expansion tank cap missing. It held the coolant for 100mi, until I got off the highway. While at high speed, the wind through the radiator keeps the system pressure and temperature down. When I got off highway, it began to boil.
