2000 V40 Starting problem - Steering wheel must be turned
Strange problem - sometimes will not start - will start after turning steering wheel left and right a few turns. It is very unusual in that sometimes it will actually engage the starter then will not start other times it will only click and other times no sounds at all. It will eventually start after moving the steering wheel back and forth and re-trying. any help would be very much appreciated as I am at a complete loss as to what could be causing this problem.

I would advise you to check the battery first. My volvo is model 2000 too. The battery may be 5~6 years old. I recently changed the battery, although it was still working, and then, start-up became much quicker and smoother.JTGx wrote:Strange problem - sometimes will not start - will start after turning steering wheel left and right a few turns. Thanks DW, We have replaced the battery and it did not help. I have been trying different things. Some times it will start if you just keep trying without turning the steering wheel and sometimes it will not. It will also start fine most of the time.
