Electrical Malfunction in v40 ???

Post by tmevns »

On starting my 02' v40 yesterday I noticed: the clock reset to 12:00 (it was 2:10pm), there were no interior lights, the radio wasn't illuminated, and the passenger heated seat was on (it wasn't when the car was turned off the night before). The car started fine, exterior lights OK, instrument lights OK, radio, windows, door-locks, sun-roof, power-seat all OK. When I arrived at my destination, the car locked with the key fob, but the lights didn't flash. When I left about 30 minutes later, the car unlocked with the key fob and started fine, but the clock was at 12:00 again and the passenger heated seat was back on (I had turned it off after starting the car the 1st time). The dealer can't get me in until tomorrow (Tues) and my wife (who drives it) is spooked. I checked the fuses, they seem OK.

Ideas ???

1) Clock not working / loose connector to clock

2) Battery connector loose

Batteries can be the most difficult element to diagnose because the problems they create can be seem far removed from it. But this is not that far removed... I'd say it's simply the battery, if not 1 or 2 from the post above.
