Cruise Control Shuts off - 2001 S40

Post by luthersdad »

Has nayone had problems with S40 - 2001 Cruise Control? On a recent trip that was 600 miles each way each time I set the cruise control it worked fine for about 10 miles or less and then just shut off. this happened repeatedly and even after we shut off systrem and car and the restarted it still did this strange action. we did not touch the brake and it was not going up a steep incline, but on flat surface.

It is a bit disconcerting when you are cruising at 65 and all of a sudden you lose speed.

I'd look for cracked or unattached vacuum lines around the engine. On 850s, they're thin white tubes. Don't know about 40s.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

Mine has been replaced twice on my 2000 v40. It's a known problem

I've got a 2002 V40 and have the same problem. Dealer couldn't replicate the problem, but it is still happening. Have to take it back, and I'd like to get this fixed before the warranty expires (in about 8000 miles). Any advice/solutions would be helpful.

Thanks,
Matt

I had this problem when I bought my 2001 S40.
The dealer said there was a broken switch that made the cruise control think the brake was being depressed.

Hope that helps.
