I got a tone using procedure #4, and yours, I didn't get a flashing triangle but I did get a tone... And it didn't work.... Dang
I'm wondering if there is a way to figure out what works with what year car, by checking the VID.

First year production... have you tried disconnecting the battery ? Leave the key in POS II (headlights on)

No I haven't disconnected the battery - that will reset a bunch of other stuff. But it is looking like this may be my last resort..

BTW, now, no matter which method I try, the service / oil change light doesn't blink when it is supposed to, during the procedure - now I get a tone instead.. Curioser and curiouser..

I also got the chime only and it went away with 'my' procedure. Possible the chime will go away by itself after a while. The 2001 may have a different way, but you may also get into a software glitch as well. Normally battery disconnect for a few moments would only get the DIM clock reset.

Thanks - I thought any battery disconnect would rest everything. Good to know a short disconnect will just reset the service light. Since the week end is over, I won't have time to attack this again until next weekend, but Who knows - it may reset itself Much thanks to all who responded...
