SRS airbag still on Topic is solved

Hello folks just recently got that airbag recall done on my Volvo V70 2.4T. I asked if they could pull a simple code because this stupid SRS airbag code won’t go away for some reason. Me thinking everything in the world will go easy was completely wrong. A simple “Please read the code but don’t do anything until i’m notified” turned into a $135 payment i had to pay. They told me the clock spring was faulty. I knew it wasn’t because my old one was faulty and i fixed it by going to the junk yard and finding a mint condition one. Brought it home cleaned it off and boom. Horn works, cruise control and all the buttons work. What more can i do to get rid of this light? The buttons all work and it’s been on ever since last year. Did they confirm whether they attempted to reset the SRS light, or just pull a code and bill you for it? For a fee like that, they should have at least tried to reset it. Something doesn't add up with that.

I triggered my SRS by absentmindedly pulling my instrument cluster without unplugging the battery. I reset it with this. VIDA is also capable.

The Autopfix code reader works ok to reset the SRS code. It appears to be one of few cheap readers to do this job. Check carefully before you buy as it has limited model/year coverage.

they said they tried to fix it. they unplugged the battery for 30 min and when i asked if they tried to reset it they said they couldn’t even reset it. I told them on the phone that i didn’t want them to try anything but they went behind my back and tried a bunch of things that obviously didn’t work. Having a hard time to believe the dealership couldn’t reset a code even though that part is fixed and working fine.

Great intel, always verify the model range of equipment like this. I happened to have the Autophix on hand already.

they said they tried to fix it. they unplugged the battery for 30 min and when i asked if they tried to reset it they said they couldn’t even reset it. That's very weird to me, they should have known that unplugging your battery will never affect an SRS light. Any certified dealer should have a VIDA, and they should also know the correct way to reset it. The cause for triggering it is a different story when it comes to diagnosing, but the reset is legitimately easy and if it comes back you'll know there's an underlying cause to correct.

Find a new dealer?

again, something does not add up about their diagnosis process... not to throw fire, but maybe they were setting you up to repeatedly dump money in their pocket.

well thank you for the help!!! will be looking into that scanner since it seems to work with my car. i’ll just continue doing the work in the garage instead of a dealership

. already talked to customer support about the shenanigans they had going on while i was being helped. Merry Christmas to you all !!
