Hi all,
One of my XCs is an '07 and it seems to have a receiver/drier that's attached to (integrated with?) the condenser in a different way from my '02. I'm planning to do pre-emptive compressor replacement and was going to replace all the consumables in the system at the same time but I can't seem to find much info on the receiver drier for this year.
Checking product photos, it appears that it may or may not be integrated with the condenser? (ugh if so). Can it be replaced independently? Does the entire condenser have to come out? (ugh if so). Does it use a dessicant bag (sort of looks the right shape, but then looking at photos it seems that there's no plug to remove to get access and/or the location where plug removal would normally occur is blocked.
Anyone replaced a receiver/drier on a car of this vintage?

Hello,
The receiver-drier is available separate at IPD:

and FCP Euro:

When I fixed the AC on the Magic Blue 2007 S60, I replaced the leaking compressor and tried pulling and holding a vacuum on the system to see how leak tight it was. I found there were no leaks other than the bad compressor. Holding a vacuum on the drier for several hours will pull any stored moisture out of the desiccant. I charged it with the same quantity of R134A refrigerant as specified on the sticker on the radiator support. So far the vehicle has been in use for a year and a half with the replacement compressor and the AC is still working great. I replaced the receiver-drier on the 2001 blue v70 and the 2001 moondust V70 when their compressors were replaced due to the same leaking problem as the 2007 S60. The blue V70 also had a leaking o-ring at one of the joints. The easiest way to access the drier is to remove the front bumper skin. The top radiator support is tied into the hood latches and inside support for the headlights. It isn't easy to remove and then re-align the hood latches.
Good luck!
