Just curious year/model and km/miles when your heater core blew up?

Okay, I got the gun, took the measurements. With the car running hot, the heater and blower were off, the measurement was very close together. 90C on the right, 86C on the left, with the laser on the plastic elbow as shown. After turning on the heater to max, the air was initially a tiny bit warm. After checking the hoses with heater on full, the left side hose temp dropped gradually to 63C after a couple minutes. At that point, the air from the vents was barely above ambient, which was a pleasant 12C

At this mileage, I'd replace:
1. Tstat (Wahler is OEM ~ $90, Facet is excellent too for $55).
2. HC is Behr but NLA.

In the past, I have used the seller on eBay selling Estonia-made HC for P80 1998 S70. I have not tried Estonia HC for P2 yet.

My limit on working outside is 10C bc I am getting older.
As long as temp is > 10C, I don't mind working on the car.

- The 2005 XC90: replaced the HC (Behr) in 2017 @ 109K miles, 8 yrs ago. It was producing luke warm heat,
not hot. New HC and new tstat solved the problem. So far so good.

- The 2007 S60: replaced the HC (Behr) in 2022 @ 115K miles. It worked fine but I replaced it, just preventive
job. No issues so far.

- The 2006 S60 with ~ 112K miles...still good heat, so I am sitting on it for now until I find a Behr HC.
Or maybe Estonia HC.

PS: I am usually not crazy about Chinese car part, but the 2007 S60 came with Spectra Radiator CU2805, made
in China
(P.O. had a shop put it in) in 2016.
Nine (9) yrs later, the Spectra radiator is working fine, no leaks. So I wonder if Spectra HC is as good???

Hello Jonesg! :P

I can always open the door to the house and let it warm up the garage :).
