This photo the sensor reminds me — When I replaced the O-rings on the oil pick up of my kids 2002 S60 I also replaced the oil pressure sensor. I think I doubled up the crush washer on the sensor but by the time I got it torqued in that blind hole and realized it, I wasn’t gonna take the chance of removing it to maybe find out it only had one crush washer on it. Fortunately, it has never leaked.

I looked at that photo as well....did I screw up?

But the bright silver is the body of the sensor below the hex, the gold/orange is the washer, the next piece is the machined boss of the block. The old sensor had the washer on it.

The old sensor had been leaking for a while and making a mess. Maybe that's where the extra quart of oil went. That's why I bought a spare. Then the switch failed.
