Hi all,
I'm looking to replace the splash shield on my 04 S60, as one of the plastic parts that holds a bolt (one of the two pieces that stick out) is broken off. On my last oil change i noticed that there was some water under the splash shield in that spot, so i'd like to replace it as well as the hardware. I've been hunting for a good deal on a splash shield, but my question is mostly about the hardware.
There's a genuine Volvo kit on FCPeuro: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... o-982793kt
Trying not to spend $57 on bolts and washers. The washer part of the kit looks like I can just get aftermarket / steel washers that fit. I'm more worried about the bolts. Can i just get M8 x 1.25 x 16 bolts such as https://www.autozone.com/p/needa-parts- ... 090/848425 or https://www.homedepot.com/pep/Everbilt- ... /204281413? These both look to be made of steel. I'm worried if i get a non-Volvo bolt there may be some unexpected corrosion or interaction between the body and the bolt, or it may seize.
Thanks in advance!

Mcmaster Carr may have the needed bolts in brass. May have in nylon also. I have not checked.

This summer I bought a cheaper splash shield from FCP Euro. I was disappointed with build quality and wished I'd bought the more expensive Volvo branded one.
Years back the URO one I bought was way better than the Professional Parts Sweden one I got this summer.

I do see the uro brand one being sold on several different sites. Should I pull the trigger on URO?

It may be one of the very few parts that may be ok. Their air guide for the P80's is a bit flimsy but is not terrible and I actually like their P80 wagon tailgate inner panel repair kit better than the Volvo one. But that is about it.
One of those 'ears' was broken off on my young friends 02 XC70. I made up a metal overlay bracket and bolted it to the regular mount hole. Still in place 1 year and 20k+ miles later!

Currently using Lowe’s SS bolts with regular socket heads besides the SS washers to match. They have larger washers to better spread the pressure around the plastic attachment points.

If the broken plastic part is towards the rear of the splash guard, this happens bc ppl undo these bolts last (during oil change). If you remove the front 5 bolts first, the front splash guard hangs down and can break one or both rear parts bc the weight of the splash guard is towards the front.
To avoid breaking the rear parts of the splash guard.... ALWAYS remove the 2 rear bolts first. Then as you remove the 5 bolts, loosen them first, this way, it does not create cracks in the plastic. As you remove the 5 bolts, support the splash guar with your hand.
Back to the original question...just drill a hole in the remaining plastic and use zip tie. I did that 10 years ago, so far so good.
