Used radio code- V70- 2002
My radio went on the fritz after 223k miles and I found a used one (HU-613) on eBay but the speak of needing a code to make it work. Do I need to go to a Volvo dealer to get this code? Obviously the seller pulled this from a bunker and doesn't have the VIN.

Radio code is a Volvo 850 issue. Not an issue with the P2's.

So br0dy519, you are saying that if I purchase a used radio to match my present old one (HU-613) I won't have to worry about it turning on when I plug it in?

Correct. It was a - 2000 MY issue. P2 it is not an issue. As they made the radio a unique shape for Volvo's I have never heard of one being stolen. Because they did that I assume Volvo did not see it necessary to use a code for it.

Heh guys. One last look at this. Can you take a quick look at this used radio I was thinking about buying on eBay?

The seller is saying that my VIN (YV1SW61R221256378) shows a Model "HU-413" radio when the actual radio in my base v70 shows a HU-613. Kind of confusing as the listing is for a HU-613.

I would get a large LCD touchscreen screen , double din with rear camera , smart phone integration, GPS , etc, $150 maybe. Amazon
along with adapter front plate and plug kit to match what you have, look at the back of your radio before ordering.

The question you ask is if the unit is an HU-613. The part number on the top 8651153 relates to a HU-613, as does the large 613 on the label.
I think it may have had an aftermarket 'wood' front glued on as the model number should be on the front lower RH of the unit.
I am in the process of having an Alpine head unit fitted to our 06 V70 with a back up camera as it was not fitted with back up sensors ( the boss's demand!). I was considering doing it myself but the wiring for the head unit is more complex than I like to deal with and we have a good shop locally for installs. It has been delayed as the only bezel available looks naff as it has a large gap around the actual radio. I have ordered 2 others from Ali Express which should fit better. I'll check which is best when the 2nd one arrives hopefully next week.
The head unit is a full bluetooth unit with bluetooth streaming. It was bought on sale for $400 CDN (about $300). There are cheaper units out there and if you are not fussed about a back up camera they are cheaper.
