I want to change the rear differential oil in my 2004 S60 R. I have seen a plug in the lower left side, it may be the drain, but I can't see any refilling plug because it's impossible to see anything in the top side.
Behind the right rear seat there is a circular cover about 20 cm (8") in diameter, very near to the rear differential, but to get access to the cover it's necessary to remove the seat, and I couldn't do it. It sems like an access way to reach the differential top side, or the Haldex tracction control box.
I would like to know how remove the seat and where are the drain and fill plugs.
I will appreciate any help in this problem. Thanks in advance.

There is only one plug. You must suction the old oil out and then replace. The plug faces the rear of the vehicle and is on the passenger side of the rear differential. It is a 13mm plug

Thanks John for your fast response. May you give me some information about the cover? . This is because I have seen a drawing of a rear "final Drive" showing in the top, left side, a plug with a gasket, very near to the circular cover mentioned before.

Which number part? The plug is in the wrong spot on the diagram - the diagram should show it actual position on the rear side of the diff nearest the back of the car.

Here are the cover pictures. There are two close-up pictures and one from inside the cabin (right side). It is difficult to remove the rear seats, so the cover is blocked by the rear right seat.
Do you know what this round cover is for?
Thanks in advance.

Fuel pump access cover - you do not need to remove
Ok - I thikn we got it now.
The plug (number 2 with 3 gasket) is shown on the wrong place on the diagram. The plug you see from the back of the car is actually number 2 .
Use a 13mm to remove. Take a towel and stuff it under the diff below the plug as it is eay to drop and hard to retrieve if it goes in the space between the diff and the carrier .
torque is 25 ft lbs - use a new crush washer .I prefer aluminum over copper.

I have a locked up plug on my differential. Never had one this tight. Have pb blasted it, tried impact wrench, won’t budge. Feel ridiculous for putting this out there, but any ideas? Rather not have it sealed for life yet!
