Ordered 4 Continental ExtremeContact DWS from Tire Rack

Post by matthew1 »

235/45ZR -17 Continental ExtremeContact DWS, In Stock
Each: $123.00
Subtotal: $492.00

... for my 2004 V70 R. They have better reviews (hundreds) than the tires I have on my 850 T5, and I like those. Those tires are Goodyear TripleTred Assurance.

Plus, these Continentals are inexpensive and have manufacturer hazard protection. Win-win.

I'm having them shipped to Volvo Specialists near me for balance and mounting.

I didn't get a break on the price; I pay the same low prices as you at Tire Rack (I asked for one, but they don't do it even for affiliates). If you use the MVS - Amazon link, it helps me keep this site running smoothly. Thanks in advance!

Shipping: $60.72
Tax: $20.17
Excise Tax: $.00
State Waste Tire Fund Fee: $.00
Order Total Including Shipping: $572.89

I'll reply back to this topic with details of arrival, mounting etc.

Congrats
I've been telling everyone about these tires for a year and a half now, ever since I had one of the first sets out.
(June 2009)
(I have them on ALL my Volvos now in all sizes)
They are a terrific tire for the buck and a damned good tires period
AWESOME in rain and AWESOME in SNOW and VERY good in the dry.. (and quiet, at least when new)!

(You should have asked me, I get them at wholesale from TR)

I have never had a problem with Continental, I love my winter Extreme Contacts TS790's, they handle like a dream ice, snow or dry.

If I hadn't got such a good deal on my Dunlop summer tires last year, this is the tire I was going to get.

I used 235/45/17 Conti Contact Pro on the rear axle of my live axle 960 wagon. Best decision I didn't make (the tyre dealer did it for me due to availability and price). They are discontinued H rated tyres (210kph) which is fine because my car only travels at up to 120kph

I had a flat and needed two rear tyres ASAP because my spare is a standard road wheel -yuck!!

The wet weather performance is unparalleled. Good in the dry and very quiet.

What's the treadwear on those? I'm running Toyo Proxes 4s on the s60 and I've been very happy with them.

Treadwear isn't published on the sidewall of my ContiContactPro's. How about yours, Matt?

Don't know the actual number but I was told it's fairly high, and very high for a performance all season

I believe the treadwear is 460 on the 50 profile so it must be atleast 460 on the 55 series. Pretty good in my opinion!

I agree these Conti's DWS area a fine tire. I have them on my work Corolla S and just recently put them on my wife's '05 V70. Buying them from Discount Tire Direct you will save money over the Tire Rack. They are rated at 50,000 miles, but getting 40,000 is a good return.

Here in the base of the Smoky's near Knoxville, we have gotten 6-10" snow falls recently ... the Conti's have been great ... when you view the footprint on fresh snow, they look almost like full winter tires. :P

I have over 35,000 summer miles on them on my '09 Corolla. I drive 125 miles a day on 4 lane and above posted limits. They are quiet and are terrific road holding in bends here in the Smoky's. I have never had a concern for them in the rain and braking is also fine.

I just order a another set for my Corolla. These DWS's area a great tire for the price ... especially if you need winter or rain control.

I'd like to go (further) on record saying these Continentals are very good. I would get them way before Goodyear TripleTreds, which I have on my 850.
